A ventilated crawl space is an air chamber, or an insulating compartment, which is created in buildings in order to improve the conditions of the living environment. In particular, it is used to separate the surface of the ground from the foundation slab so that it does not draw up rising damp, fumes, efflorescence or other contamination.
